Authentication problem

I get the message that the current key has been locked to a different machine, but I have no idea how that could happen. My wife uses the program on her computer but she also has her own account.
Last night I lost internet service for a while, can that cause this to happen?
Is there a way to lock my license to this machine permanently so I don't encounter this again?
