Start Fight

Previous  Next

The initial attack mode is "Start Fight". This attack mode occurs just before a fight with a mob is initiated. Combos for this mode might include, buffing spells, telling a pet to attack the mob, an initial DOT spell, using a bow to pull a mob, etc. Lets create a Start Fight Combo for a mage. The first thing you have to do is set up a macro for the spell you want to use. (If you do not know how to set up macros in game Click Here )  I have set up a macro for the spell "Dia" that uses "Book 01 (#1) Alt + 1"

Step 1: Load your profile, and goto "Options -> HotKeys"

Step 2: Set the "Priority" for this combo. Since we are only going to have one combo in this mode we will leave the priority at the default of "0". Remember the lower the priority the more it will try to use that spell or action. It is recommended to have each hotkey a different priority.

Step 3: We are going to leave the delay at the default as well, because we don't care about it right now since this will only fire at the start of battle. If you would like to know more about the delay please see "Hotkeys "

graphic

Step 4: We do not care what our health is at the start of a fight so we will leave this at the default of 100% health, which means it will always go off no matter what our health is. If we only wanted to use a hotkey if we had 50% of our life left we would set this to 50.

Step 5: This is going to be a ranged attack, which means it can be used at a distance, but that distance is limited. This character can only use his "Dia" at a maximum distance of 15 yards. So we are going to set "Max Range" to "15".

graphic

Step 6: We don't care if we use this spell in melee range so we are going to leave the minimum range at "0". If you wanted to use this spell only when you were out of melee range you could set it to something like "10". Also if we just wanted to stand back and cast we could set "No" for "Move to mob" option under "Movement " in "Options Explained".

graphic

Step 7: Now we are ready to click the "Add Combo" button. Please not that once we click the add combo button we can no longer change any of the options at the top. The only things we are going to be able to change are the options listed on the actual hotkey combo window, which are "Macro Bar #", "Hot Key #", "CTRL", "ALT", "% TP", and "%MP".

graphic

Step 8: Once you click the "Add Combo" button, we can start adding hot keys. The hotkey we want to add is the macro we set for "Dia", which is "Book 01 : Macro Bar 1 : Alt + 1". So first we set the "Macro Bar #" to "1" (which is the default).

graphic

Step 9: Then we set the "Hot Key #" to the one we made in our macro, which is "1".

graphic

Step 10: Now we set "Alt" since our hotkey macro was "Alt + 1".

graphic

Step 11: We are going to leave "%MP", and "% TP" the default of "0" since we don't care how much TP and MP we have when we cast this spell.

Step 12: This hotkey is set, so we are going to move to Mode: "Single Mob", which is the most important Mode of all.
